The second of the Expanse series of books, Caliban's War starts with the Ganymede event where Bobbie Draper sees her platoon attacked by a 'monster' and fighting between Mars and the UN takes place above the station and causes one of the solar arrays to crash in to it, seeing the destruction of the Botanist Prax's biodome. I think it essentially tacks against the events in the second season of the TV series although I'm not sure.
We follow the crew along with the new characters in Prax, Bobbie and Avasarala (I don't think she was in the first book..?) as they navigate growing tensions, to find Prax's lost child Mei and to find out what this monster is and how it relates to the protomolecule. I won't g in to details as this is a series that I'll be returning to repeatedly I think. Once I've read the 9 main books, I'll definitely be watching the TV series again. And then I'll probably play that Owlcat game when it comes out too.
I really liked it. Corey writes in a way that makes me want to keep reading and I'm resisting the temptation to go straight in to book 3. I will be rewarded by temperance and patience. I have a life to fill.
