James S.A. Corey - Leviathan Wakes (The Expanse series book 1)

Ever since I watched and fell in love with The Expanse TV series a few years ago I've been meaning to take the time to read the books, and with the recent news of an Owlcat Games rpg in the universe coming soon, I decided it was finally time.
This first book of the series basically covers the events in the first season of the TV adaptation (apparently stretching in to the first half of season 2 too) so I don't need to go over the events in a summary for the benefit of my own memory, both because i know the story fairly well now, and because I'm hoping I can forget some of that to better enjoy the series when I watch it again at some point. Suffice it to say that the book starts with Holden as the XO on the Canterbury and ends just after Eros has been 'disposed of'.
The book basically follows the events of the TV series exactly, with only a little variation, but it obviously offers more insight in to the thought processes of the two main characters. On that, the chapters follow first Holden, then Miller, repeating in that fashion till a short chapter from the perspective of Fred at the very end.
It was exceptionally readable, each chapter ending in such a fashion that it made it very hard not to want to immediately start up the next chapter. I've done a lot more reading than I might usually over the last few days thanks to that, and I enjoyed every moment of it. Having the actors faces in the mind to add extra character to the events made me not regret having watched the TV series first too, which I've definitely had in the past with other adaptations. I don't think theres a wrong order to experiencing both.
I'll definitely be picking up the rest of this series when I've finished off some more of my current reading list.
