Another witchy adventure in Discworld.
In this episode of Tiffany Aching's education in to witchcraft, she is living with another strange hag named Miss Treason, blind but with the ability to see through other being's eyes, and without the manners to ask. At the beginning of winter she takes Tiffany to the local dance, the opposite of a Morris dance carried out to help the passage from Summer in to Winter. Tiffany gets carried away by the music though and finds herself jumping in to the dance, getting between the old man of winter, Wintersmith, and Lady Summer. This causes the Wintersmith to become intrigued by this human girl and he begins to fall in love with her, attempting to romance Tiffany in strange ways like writing her name in frost, and causing all snowflakes to be little images of her. This causes a terrible dangerous winter and it is left to the witches of Discworld to restablish the standard dance between the god and goddess of winter and summer. Finally, Tiffany is whisked away to an ice palace made just for her and while she breaks the illusion of pretend humanity that the wintersmith had tried to construct, her 'sort of' boyfriend Roland (the baron's son who she had saved from the Elf queen back in the first Tiffany Aching book) leads the 'real' Lady Summer out from the underworld. Winter is killed and Summer reborn once again.
I can't not love a witches book.
